Amika Soulfood: How to Make Room for a Moisture Mask

Amika Soulfood: How to Make Room for a Moisture Mask

Posted by Ramzi Hair Design on

Sometimes your hair-care goal is wonderfully straightforward: you want your lengths to feel softer and your brush to move through them more easily. That is a different shopping brief from finding a styling spray or a dedicated repair treatment.

Meet Soulfood

Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask 250ml is a rinse-out conditioning mask. Amika describes it as a moisturising formula with jojoba seed oil and sea buckthorn, designed to nourish hair and improve manageability and shine.

Use the time on the label

The brand's directions are to apply it after shampooing to wet hair, leave it on for five to seven minutes and rinse. Set a timer if it helps you make the step consistent. There is no need to invent an overnight treatment routine for a product intended to be rinsed out.

Start with the amount and frequency recommended on your packaging, then consider how your hair feels and what your stylist advises. The goal is an enjoyable result, not the largest possible amount of product.

Soulfood and K18 are different steps

The word “mask” does not tell you how a product should be used. Soulfood is rinsed out. K18 Molecular Repair Hair Mask is a leave-in damage-care treatment with a separate four-minute waiting period and specific instructions about conditioner beforehand.

If you own both, do not assume they should be mixed together or applied in any order. Follow each manufacturer's instructions and ask for help building a clear schedule. Keeping routines on separate wash days can make your first experiments easier to understand.

Judge the result in your usual style

Try the mask on a day when you can dry and style your hair normally. Notice the feel of your ends, the ease of detangling and whether your style has the movement you like. One person's favourite rich finish may feel excessive to someone who prefers a very light result.

Keep a short note of what you used. If you change five things at once, you lose the chance to learn what suits you.

For help choosing between conditioning and repair priorities, talk with your stylist. Visit the product page for current availability.
